June wasn’t a good month in Utah to be looking for a government job.
Job numbers at the federal, state and local levels of government all fell as the statewide unemployment rate ticked up a notch to 4.7 percent from 4.6 percent in May, the Utah Department of Workforce Services said Friday.
Carrie Mayne, the department’s chief economist, said federal budget cuts were behind a 2.2 percent decline in federal jobs between June 2012 and last month.
